How many people survived the Titanic ?

The death toll of people aboard Titanic who perished in the sea and in lifeboats is put between 1,490 and 1,635 people. The number of casualities do not stand clear because of a confusion over how many people actually boarded the ship, as there were some last minute cancelations also. But officially, the figure of people on-board Titanic is 2224 with 1,514 people dead and 710 people as survivors of Titanic. These figure have been put forth by the British Board of Trade after their report on the disaster. A specific and percentage base of findings are reported below

Some of the survivors who survived the accident died later either on the lifeboat or days later through some injury or accompanying illnesses.

Though women were mostly saved, 54 percent of them in the third-class died while only 3 percent died from first-class. Five of six first-class children travelling first class were saved, all of the children in second-class survived while 52 of 79 in third-class died. Nearly 90 percent of men in the second-class were trapped, left to die due to the women and children to be saved protocol was carried out in the limited d number  of lifeboats, which could carry only 11 78 people. The 710 survivors were taken aboard from the lifeboats by the RMS Carpathiaa few hours later . Here is a list of Titanic survivors.

The last living survivor, Millvina Dean from England, who at only nine weeks old was the youngest passenger on board, died aged 97 on 31 May 2009.
